PARÍS, ABRIL 2007 - 2ª PARTE / PART 2

Como nos encanta el Código da Vinci, fuimos a visitar la iglesia de Saint Sulpice, que estaba la mitad en obras.

As Mom and I love the Da Vinci Code, we went to visit Saint Sulpice church, but half of it was being renovated.

Pasamos por el puente Alexandre III, el más bonito de París, con sus farolas y sus estatuas doradas.

We crossed the Alexandre III bridge, the most beautiful bridge in Paris, with its streetlamps and its golden statues.

No podíamos dejarnos el famoso Arco de Triunfo, todo un emblema de París.

We could not forget the famous Triumph Arch, one of the most important sights of Paris.

Esta es una de las típicas entradas de metro modernistas de París, ¿verdad que es preciosa?

This is one of the typical Modern Style subway entrances of Paris. Isn't it beautiful?

Para terminar el día, subimos a Montmartre, que como podéis ver, estaba abarrotadísimo. Primero fuimos a ver la iglesia del Sacré Coeur.

At the end of the day we went to Montmartre, and it was very crowded as you can see. First of all we visited the Sacré Coeur church.

Le Lapin Agile es uno de los típicos cabarets donde se reunían los artistas a finales del siglo XIX.

Le Lapin Agile is one of the typical cabarets where the artists used to gather at the end of the 19th century.

El último día fuimos de excursión a Versalles. Este es un lago que hay en los jardines, donde la gente puede remar y todo.

The last day we made a day trip to Versailles. In the gardens there is a lake where people can even row.

La reina María Antonieta se hizo construir un pequeño pueblecito dentro de los jardines para hacerse la ilusión de que en vez de reina era una simple campesina y "jugaba" a las granjitas.

Queen Marie Antoinette ordered to build a small village in the gardens, so that she could imagine that she was a simple peasant instead of a queen, and she "played" with her farm.

Incluso tenían animalitos: pollos, gallinas, perros, e incluso ponies como este tan mono.

They used to have animals like chickens, hens, dogs and even ponies like this cute one.

Estuvimos andando tantísimo rato para ir a ver el pueblecito de María Antonieta, que tuvimos que sentarnos un rato a descansar en el césped al lado del lago. Qué cansancio, ¡las distancias son enormes! Ya me habría gustado que me llevaran en silla de mano, como a las reinas...

We had walked so much to see Marie Antoinette's village, that we had to take a rest on the grass near the lake. I was so tired! The distances are very big there. I wish I could be a queen and be transported on that old kind of "hand seats"...

Ese día ponían en funcionamiento las fuentes de los jardines de Versailles. No sólo los surtidores, sino que también ponían música de la época, así que nuestra última visita parisina fue un recorrido por todas las fuentes de los jardines de Versailles con música de fondo.
¡París es precioso! Os lo recomiendo. Yo ya tengo ganas de volver...

That was the first day that they turned on all the fountains in Versailles gardens. But there were not only the fountains but that day they also played music of that time. So, our last Parisian visit was a stroll in Versailles gardens seing all the fountains with music in the background.
Paris is wonderful! I recommend you to visit it. I already feel like going there again...

PARÍS, ABRIL 2007 - 1ª PARTE / PART 1

Hola a tod@s!!! Este es mi segundo diario de viaje, esta vez fuimos a París.
Me habían hablado mucho de esa maravillosa ciudad, así es que no pude aguantar mucho rato en la bolsa y quise viajar sentadita en el metro de París, como todo el mundo.

Hi everybody!!! This is my second travel journal, that time we went to Paris.
I was told that Paris was a wonderful city, so I couldn't stand to stay in the bag for a long time and wanted to travel seated in Paris subway, like everybody.

Lo primero que quise ver fue la Tour Eiffel, es enooooooooooooooorme !!!! Yo tan pequeñita ahí abajo...

The first thing I wanted to see was the Eiffel Tower, it's sooooooooo big!!! And I felt so small there...

Como es tan bonita, quise otra foto, esta vez más de lejos, así no me veo tan enanita, jejeje.

As the tower was so beautiful, I wanted another picture, but taken from a longer distance, so that I don't feel like a little dwarf hehehe.

Mami quiso ir después a Les Invalides, donde está la tumba de Napoleón. Demasiada tumba para un emperador tan bajito, jeje. Pero el edificio es muy bonito.

Afterwards, Mom wanted to visit Les Invalides. There is Napoleon's grave. Too big a grave for such a small emperor, hehe. But the building is very beautiful.

Otro capricho de mami: ver el museo del escultor Rodin, si es que tiene unas ocurrencias... Si os fijáis bien, a la derecha de mi cabecita está su estatua más famosa: El Pensador

Another one of Mum's caprices: to visit the museum of the sculptor Rodin. She has such funny ideas... If you pay attention, on the right of my little head you will see his most famous statue: The Thinker.

El día siguiente empezamos nuestra visita cultural yendo a ver la iglesia de Notre Dame. Menos mal que no estaba Quasimodo, si no, no paro de correr hasta Barcelona...

The day after, we began our cultural visit by visiting Notre Dame church. Luckily Quasimodo was not there, otherwise I would have run till Barcelona without stopping...

También visitamos la Conciergerie. Durante la Revolución Francesa tuvieron a María Antonieta encerrada ahí dentro antes de cortarle la cabeza. Ufff, qué yuyu !!!

We also visited the Conciergerie. During the French Revolution, they had Marie Antoinette shut up there before cutting her head off. How frightening!!!

Después fuimos a ver el teatro de la Opera Garnier, que es de estilo Modernista (Art Nouveau como dicen los franceses), que lo estaban restaurando y las estatuas doradas brillaban al sol.

Then we visited the theatre of the Opera Garnier, which is Modern Style (Art Nouveau as they say in French). It was being refurbished, so the golden statues were shining under the sun.

Le dije a mami que quería ver la zona más "chic", así es que me llevó a la place Vendome, que aparte de tener esa columna con el dichoso Napoleón encima, también es donde está el Hotel Ritz y las más famosas tiendas de diamantes. ¡Qué tentación para una posh como yo!

I told Mum that I wanted to see the most "chic" zone of Paris, so she took me to Place Vendome. Apart from having that column with damn Napoleon on top, there is also the Hotel Ritz and the most famous diamond shops in Paris. What a tentation for a posh like me!

La tarde anterior mami se la pasó en el Louvre, y a mí me dejó condenada en una bolsa en el guardarropía, alegando que no me iba a sentir a gusto con tanta gente. ¡Grrr! Con lo que me encanta el arte...
En fin, al día siguiente protesté y me llevó a ver más sitios. Empezamos por el Pantheon, donde hay franceses importantes enterrados (escritores, políticos, etc).

The previous afternoon, Mum went to visit the Louvre museum, and I was all the time in a bag at the left luggages. She told me that I would not feel at ease with so many people. Grr! I like art so much...
Anyway, the day after I complained, and she took me to see more places. We began with the Pantheon, where many famous French people are buried (writers, politicians, etc.)

Dimos un paseo por el jardín de Luxembourg. Hay un lago donde los niños alquilan pequeños veleros para hacerlos navegar. Por suerte hacía algo de viento, así es que había mucho movimiento de veleros.

We took a walk at the Luxembourg garden. There is a pond where children rent small sailing ships to make them sail. Luckily it was quite windy, so there were many sailing ships there.

Me quise divertir un ratito montando en un caballito que había en el parque.

I wanted to have fun riding a small wooden horse that I saw in the park.

CASTILLA, DICIEMBRE 2006 - 1ª PARTE / PART 1

Hola! Soy Rowena y os voy a contar cómo fue mi viaje a Castilla en diciembre de 2006.
El primer sitio donde estuve fue Valladolid. Me gustó que pusieran casitas "casi de mi tamaño" en la Plaza Mayor. Aunque algunas tenían inquilinos un tanto raritos...

Hi! I'm Rowena and I'm going to tell you about my trip to Castilla in December 2006.
The first place I visited was Valladolid. I liked to see little houses "almost my size" in the Plaza Mayor. But some of them had quite strange tenants...

Otra casita era la cabaña de Papá Noel. Dicen que es un señor muy alegre, pero a mí me pareció que tenía una pinta de serio... Por eso no me fié y me mantuve a distancia...

Another of the houses was Santa Claus cabin. People say that he's a very cheerful man, but I thought he looked so serious... So I didn't trust him and kept my distance...

También pusieron un Belén junto a las casitas, con la Virgen María, San José, el Niño Jesús... y también con ovejitas.
They also put a crib near the little houses with the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, little Jesus... and also with little lambs!

Otras casitas tenían inquilinos más simpáticos, como este gnomito tan guapo.

Other houses had more nice tenants, like that cute goblin.

¡Socorro! ¡Un árbol que habla!
Menudo susto me llevé... Luego me di cuenta de que era un árbol mágico que contaba cuentos a los niños.

Help! A talking tree!
What a fright... Then I saw that it was a magic tree who was telling fairy tales to he children.

El centro de la Plaza Mayor lo ocupaba este árbol de Navidad tan grandote. Hacía mucho frío!!

In the very middle of Plaza Mayor was that huge Christmas tree. It was very cold!!

Aquí estoy frente a la iglesia de Santa María de la Antigua. Como podéis comprobar, me encanta el arte y me gusta mucho que me hagan fotos con monumentos y edificios.

Here I am in front of Santa Maria de la Antigua church. As you can see, I love art and I love to appear in pictures with monuments and buildings.

El arte moderno no me gusta mucho. Mi mami me quiso hacer esta foto montada en una especie de estatua-bici rara. Le hice caso a regañadientes, pero estaba tan alta que perdí el equilibrio y me caí de bruces, suerte que debajo había hierba. ¡Menudo susto nos llevamos las dos!

I don't like modern art that much. Mom wanted to take that picture of me on top of a sort of strange bycicle-statue. I told her yes unwillingly, but the bycicle was so tall that I lost my balance and fell flat on my face, luckily there was grass there. Mom and I were very scared!

Otra vez con otra vista distinta de la iglesia de Santa María de la Antigua, esta vez se ve mejor el campanario.

Again with Santa Maria de la Antigua church from another point of view. Here you can see better the bell tower.

Un pequeño descansito de tanto paseo. Fuimos al parque del Campo Grande, donde corrían pavos reales sueltos por ahí. Este blanco es un poco raro...

A little rest after so much walking. We went to Campo Grande park, and there were peacocks running around there. This white one is a bit strange...

Aunque este tenga la cola de colorines, no me fío demasiado... Mejor me mantengo a distancia...

Even if that one has a tail with many colours, I don't trust him very much... I better keep my distance...

¡Vaya! Pero si también hay otras criaturitas en el Campo Grande...
Noooo, no digo las palomas, de esas hay en todas partes. Digo las ardillitas, había unas cuantas por ahí y un señor les iba dando frutos secos que ellas se comían o escondían. Mirad como come esta de mi derecha...

O my! There are also other creatures in Campo Grande...
No no, I don't mean the doves, there are doves everywhere. I mean the squirrels, there were some of them there and a man was giving nuts to them. Some of them ate the nuts, and some of them just hid them. Look the one at my right side, she's eating a nut...

¡¡¡ Me encanta que me hagan fotos !!!! Creo que nací para modelo... En el parque había un fotógrafo con una cámara muy rara, de esas que sólo sale en las pelis. Me puse delante a ver si disparaba, pero no sacó la cabeza de detrás de su cámara. Igual se había congelado del frío. ¡ Qué raro!

I love when people take pictures of me!!! I think that I was born to be a model... In the park there was a photographer with a very strange camera, the kind you only see in old films. I stayed in front of them, to see if he wanted to take pictures of me, but he did not move his head from behind the camera. Maybe he was frozen because it was so cold. How strange!

Después de tanto ajetreo en el parque, aquí estoy descansando al lado del estanque, contemplando los patitos y los cisnes (aunque no salgan en la foto, había muchos).

After so much bustle in the park, here I am taking a rest near the pond, looking at the ducks and the swans (yes, even if they don't appear in the picture, there were many of them).

Aquí con un jarrón antiguo del parque, como siempre mostrando mi faceta artística.

Here I am with an old vase of the park, showing my artistic side, as always.

Aquí mi mami y sus amigos quisieron hacerme una foto navideña, y aprovechando que era fiesta y las tiendas estaban cerradas, me subieron en la decoración navideña de una tienda. Casi me vuelvo a caer... Dos veces en un día habría sido demasiado...

Mum and her friends wanted to take a Christmas picture of me, and as it was a public holiday and the shops were closed, they put me on the Christmas decoration of a shop. I almost fell flat on my face again... Twice on the same day would have been too much...

¡¡¡¡¡ FELIZ NAVIDAD !!!!!
Me gusta mucho el bichito este, y aprovechando que llevaba el cartel navideño y que los dos íbamos vestidos para la ocasión, decidimos que esta iba a ser mi imagen para la Navidad 2006.

MERRY CHRISTMAS !!!!!
I like this little creature very much, and as he was carrying a "Merry Christmas" sign, and as we both were dressed for Christmas, we decided that this one would be my Christmas 2006 image.



Al día siguiente nos fuimos de excursión a León (como podéis ver por la estatua). Estuvo lloviendo todo el santo día, por eso no salgo en muchas fotos :(

The day after, we went to León (as you can see from the statue). It was raining all day long, that's the reason why I don't appear in many pictures :(

Aquí me resguardo de la lluvia en el claustro del Palacio de los Guzmanes, que es la sede de la Diputación.

Here I am taking shelter from the rain in the cloister of the Guzmanes Palace, the seat of the Regional Council.

Aquí me vuelvo a resguardar de la lluvia, esta vez en los porches de la Plaza Mayor. Lo que se ve al fondo es el antiguo ayuntamiento.

Here I am again taking shelter from the rain, this time under the arcades of the Plaza Mayor. What you see behind me is the Town Hall.



Prácticamente me pasé el día dentro del bolso de mami, menudo rollo... Por la tarde paró de llover, y pude salir a ver mundo, ¡menos mal!  Aquí estoy delante de la iglesia de San Isidoro.

I was almost all the time in Mum's bag, what a nuisance... In the afternoon the rain stopped and I could go out to see things, thanks God! Here I am in front of San Isidoro church.



Aquí quise posar delante de un escaparate que tenía montones de tiovivos y de casitas que se movían, además de estos ositos de peluche tan monos.

I wanted to appear in that picture in front of a shop window where there were lots of carousels and little houses, and also these cute teddies.
